29TH January 2017 NBRU press release on Minister Ross’s double standards 2

29TH January 2017

NBRU calls on Ross to Apply similar Political Expediency to Rural Bus Service as that which he is Applying to Stepaside Garda Station in South County Dublin.

General Secretary Dermot O’Leary said:
“Reported statement’s from the Minister on the reopening of Stepaside Garda Station contrast alarmingly with his dismissiveness of the concerns of the hundreds of thousands of rural based commuters that rely on the Bus √Čireann Expressway Service to access schools, colleges, work and hospital appointment’s; those people are entitled to ask why their public service is lower in the transport Ministers hierarchy of importance than those of his own constituents”

Mr O’Leary went on to say:
“Trotting out the hoary old chestnut of not getting involved in an industrial dispute is designed to facilitate the Minister to as it were, Stepaside from his responsibility to this most vital of Public Services, whilst at the same time he is applying political pressure for the reopening of another Public Service in his own backyard; political hypocrisy of the highest order and an abdication of social responsibility”
