Campaign against privatisation of Dublin Bus and Bus Éireann
A protest march has been organised for Wednesday 23rd July 2014 at 11 am.
Bus Workers at Dublin Bus and Bus Eireann say they are organising the protest as part of the campaign which has already seen a series of public meetings take place along with a protest march held in Waterford on the 1st July.
The march which is to commence at Parnell Square at 11am and make its way to Kildare Street to hand in a letter of protest to the Minister will take place on the 23rd July.
This is the greatest threat to the Semi-State Bus Companies since 2003.
Fine Gael and Labour seem intent on initiating a “race to the bottom” in the bus industry by following an ideological driven privatisation policy.
Bus workers jobs are not commodities to be traded as part of a political agenda. Sacrificing 10% of bus jobs jobs in the naïve hope that “they” will stop at that is a misguided policy.
The advice to staff from other quarters is that” they will be ok” or “this won’t happen”.
The National Bus and Rail Union is not prepared to sit back and gamble with bus workers jobs.
The Dublin Bus Branch will manage the march to ensure maximum effect for minimum disruption to the public.
We are calling on all BUS WORKERS IN Dublin to support this march.
