Press Release
Breakdown of LRC Exploratory Talks

General Secretary Dermot O’Leary said:

“it is a matter of regret that our members find themselves having to resort to industrial action in relation to this dispute, action which will unduly discommode the travelling public and bring financial hardship on our members, it is particularly disappointing that the positivity espoused by the Minister over the last number of days has not been supported by key stakeholders, despite the best intentions of the LRC it was evident to us that the companies, the NTA and the Department were not acting in concert in working towards finding a solution to all of the issues at the heart of this dispute”

Mr O’Leary went on to say:

a comprehensive inter-locking agenda was previously agreed by all the stakeholders as part of the LRC facilitated talks process on bus route privatisation, any resolution to this dispute is contingent on addressing all of the issues on that agenda, the companies, the Department and the NTA had a central role in formulating this agenda, they now have a collective responsibility to work towards a solution”.
