Notice to Members Christmas 2014

Members will be aware that 2014, similar to the previous number of years has presented many challenges.

Privatisation
The NTA are preparing to move ahead with the Fine Gael/Labour Privatisation policy.

The NBRU has led an intensive campaign of opposition to this attack on Bus Workers and we will continue to challenge the effect of this anti-worker, anti-travelling public policy. (See separate Notices)

Terms and Conditions

Members are advised that Bus Eireann have agreed that all of the terms and conditions that were changed/suspended/varied in line with the Labour Relations Commission agreement dated the 17th May 2013 will return in full from the 1st January 2015. The NBRU will remain vigilant in ensuring that a full restoration will ensue.

Dublin Bus Board have also confirmed that they will be restoring all of the terms and conditions which were temporarily suspended/varied from the middle of June 2015.

Irish Rail are currently immersed in an agreement which has approximately 22months to run. However the NBRU intends to use the mechanisms within the LRC agreement, i.e. Cost Management Review of non-payroll cost base and the section/s applicable to past and future productivity to effect a possible reduction of timeframe and/or an improvement to rail workers terms and conditions.

Members are further advised that the pay claims lodged by the NBRU earlier this year will be vigorously pursued, beginning with Bus Eireann, followed thereafter by Dublin Bus.

Finally the Officials along with the National Executive Council would like to wish all our members and their families a Very Happy Christmas and a Peaceful New Year.
